Tile Cleaning Tips

We all wish to make our home appear lovely, comfortable and tidy. But, sometimes due to your busy daily schedule, you find making this goal a bit difficult to achieve. However, to keep your home looking good, you need to do little sacrifice as it demands time and basic knowledge. After all, all good things deserve some time to be worked on and paid attention to.

Take a look at some of these helpful and effective tile cleaning tips:

o       Daily sweeping, mopping and dusting helps avoid dust and stains to stick.

o       Use mop, warm water and mild detergent when mopping daily.

o       For tile stain, apply a little amount of water and detergent to the stained tile, let it sit for about 3-4 hours, scrub gently by using a soft scrub brush, then immediately rinse.

o       Chlorine bleach can be used also with a hard-to-remove stain, make a solution of chlorine bleach and water, apply it to the tile stain, let it sit for few minutes, scrub gently and then rinse.

o       For nail polish stain, use a paper towel or cotton soaked with an acetone, and apply it on the damaged part, let it sit for a few minutes and then grind away the softened nail polish.

o       When vacuuming, remove hard or metal materials which could scratch or broke your tile.

o       For tile grouts, use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water. Spray it directly unto the grout, let it sit there for few minutes, then spray again. This is good for white grout only; avoid using hydrogen peroxide with colored grouts as it may cause discoloration or ugly grout appearance.

o       Do not let tile cleaning agents to dry on floor, for hard stains, you can leave cleaning agents only for few minutes or hours and immediately rinse them but not letting them to dry there, this might cause more stain to hardly stick on the tile.

o       As much as possible use paper towel, soft cloth, soft scrub or brush and avoid abrasive cleaners for they might scratch and broke the tile and remove its shine.

o       Always keep on using gentle cleaning agent, use only enough amounts when making a cleaning solution. Note that too much is never good.

o       Use only clear water when rinsing.

o       Chlorine based cleaners can be used effectively to deal with resistant stains and clean tile grout as well.

o       Immediately clean any kind of spills on the tile floor to avoid them from hardening.

o       Use baking soda paste into the grout and clean it thoroughly and then scrub gently. Rinse and mop.
